Elders for Peace is a politically non-partisan organization of senior citizens who are deeply concerned about what the Bush administration has done to change the basic direction of our nation toward worldwide U.S. control backed by force, with secrecy and police-state powers at home and disregard for the world community and the needs of the planet.
Since Bush was appointed by the Supreme Court, the Bush regime:
We believe that this direction should be reversed in the 2004 elections. We invite all concerned Americans to join us in public debate and the formulation of appropriate action.
- Devestated two countries and wounded and killed thousands of people in two wars.
- Canceled international treaties and destroyed international relationships built up over 50 years.
- Took away basic civil rights and imprisoned innumerable people with no charges and no legal counsel.
- Progressively crippled the federal government by privatization, transferring government services to private agencies that fail to offer previous worker protections.
- Increased secrecy and avoided Congressional oversight by executive orders
- Endangered the environment by undercutting protections and embracing an energy policy that adds to pollution and global warming.
- Drastically cut taxes for the wealthy while significantly reducing basic human services.
- Plunged the nation into unprecedented deficit in an already weak economy.
